The main benefit of buying a used part from BackToRoad is getting the right one for your Tahoe the first time. We check your VIN against the part before we confirm your order, so the engine option, drivetrain and equipment on your truck match what arrives at your door. That matters more on a Tahoe than on many vehicles, because a single model year can carry several engines, transmissions and suspension setups.
Cost is the other reason most owners shop used. New OEM parts for a full-size SUV add up fast, and on a Tahoe that is ten or fifteen years old, a used OEM engine, transmission or transfer case is often the repair that still makes financial sense. Because these parts were built to Chevrolet’s own specifications, the connectors, sensors and mounting points line up the way your truck expects.
Every used Tahoe part we ship is checked for visible damage, cracks and leaks and tested for function. It then gets a second inspection within 24 hours of shipping, so the part that leaves us is the part we checked.
If you are not sure which part you need, you can talk to a person. Our parts specialists at 1-800-608-3868 can help you work out what your Tahoe needs and match it to your VIN. Or use our parts locator tool to search our network of salvage yards and recyclers across the United States and Canada at no additional cost to you.
Every part comes with a 30-day warranty, and the terms are on our warranty page. We ship to your home or to your mechanic anywhere in the United States and Canada, and you can see how shipping works on our shipping and handling page. Reusing a working part also keeps it out of the scrap stream and saves the energy and raw material a new one would take to make.
Most Requested Used Chevy Tahoe Parts
These are the Tahoe parts owners ask us for most, along with what to know before you order each one. You can browse Recent arrivals below for current listings, or use the parts locator tool for anything you do not see.
Engines
The engine option on your truck decides everything, and the 5.3L alone has several code families: LM7 and L59 on the 2000 to 2006 trucks, LY5 and LC9 from 2007, and L83 and L84 on the newer generations. The 4.8L, the 6.0L hybrid, the 6.2L and the 3.0L Duramax are their own engines with their own fitment.
AFM lifter failure is a well-documented problem on 2007 to 2015 trucks. AFM shuts off cylinders 1, 4, 6 and 7 under light load, and the lifters on those cylinders can collapse, which shows up as a ticking noise, P0300 misfire codes and sometimes a Service StabiliTrak message. Later engines with Dynamic Fuel Management have drawn similar lifter complaints. Send us your VIN and we will match the engine to your truck, and tell us if you are replacing the ECM too so we can match both.
Transmissions
Tahoes have used the 4L60E family, the 6L80, the 8L90 and the 10L80, so the model year alone will not tell you which one you need. The 2000 to 2006 trucks use the 4-speed 4L60E family, the 6-speed 6L80 shows up from around 2009, the 2015 to 2020 trucks use the 6L80 or the 8L90 depending on engine and trim, and every 2021 and newer Tahoe has the 10L80. Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions are often different assemblies, so we verify the VIN and drivetrain before we confirm a transmission.
Transfer cases and 4WD parts
Many four-wheel drive Tahoes from 2000 to 2013 use an electronic-shift transfer case, where a shift motor with an encoder, a dash switch and a control module tell the case which range to use. When something in that chain fails, you get a Service 4WD message. A failed shift motor, a worn dash switch, a blown fuse or a bad ground can all cause the same message, so have the code read before you order a full transfer case. If the case itself is damaged or leaking, send us your VIN and we will match the right one for your truck.
ABS modules
An ABS light, often together with the traction control or StabiliTrak lights, is the usual sign of a failing ABS module. The 2000 to 2006 trucks and the 2007 to 2014 trucks use different assemblies with different part numbers, and the module has to match your Tahoe’s brake and stability system. We match ABS modules by VIN and part number, so give us both when you call.
Instrument clusters
On 2003 to 2006 Tahoes, the classic cluster failure is a set of small stepper motors that move the gauge needles. When they wear out, the speedometer sticks or pegs high, and the fuel gauge and tachometer often follow. The PRNDL and odometer display can also dim or go dark. If your gauges are acting up, a replacement cluster is one way to fix it. Tell our parts specialists what the cluster is doing and give them your VIN so we can match the right one to your truck.
Steering and suspension
Steering racks for 2007 to 2014 and 2015 to 2020 Tahoes are different assemblies, and hybrid models differ again, so the VIN matters here. Steering columns, power steering pumps, spindles, control arms, stabilizer bars and struts are also common requests.
On trucks with Z55 or Z95 suspension (2007 to 2014) or Air Ride Adaptive Suspension (2021 and newer), the air suspension compressor is a frequent request. A sagging rear end, a pump that runs constantly, or a Service Suspension System or Service Leveling System message are the usual signs. A leak in the rear air shocks is the most common cause of compressor failure, so have the shocks checked before you replace the pump. You can confirm your suspension option from the RPO codes on the glove box label.
Axles, differentials and driveshafts
Axle assemblies, differentials, ring and pinion sets, carriers and front and rear driveshafts all depend on whether your Tahoe is 2WD or 4WD, and differentials also depend on gear ratio. Send us your VIN and we will confirm the ratio and drivetrain before your order ships.
AC, cooling and electrical
AC condensers, compressors, evaporators and blower motors are steady requests, along with radiators, fan assemblies and alternators. The AC condenser sits at the front of the truck, where road debris can damage it, which is one reason it is such a common replacement. On the electrical side we also supply ECMs, throttle bodies, headlight and tail light assemblies and side mirrors, all matched to your VIN so the year, trim and equipment line up.
Warehouse Network
Having access to a strong and extensive warehouse network is essential when searching for high-quality used parts for your Chevy Tahoe. Through a well-connected system of salvage yards, auto recyclers, and specialty used parts suppliers, finding the exact component you need becomes significantly easier and more efficient. This wide-reaching network allows for quick sourcing, ensuring that parts are readily available and can be shipped or delivered promptly, reducing repair downtime.
An established warehouse network also improves the chances of finding parts in excellent condition at competitive prices, giving you more options to choose from. Whether you are looking for mechanical parts, electrical components, body panels, or interior accessories, a reliable network ensures that you can locate everything you need without unnecessary delays or excessive costs. This level of accessibility and convenience makes buying used parts a practical and hassle-free experience for Chevy Tahoe owners looking to keep their SUVs in top shape.
